Autumn is back to town, and with it those nice walks to the parks and gardens of New York City, with this post summer feel we are also updating our NYC Limousine site, and adding some special attention to the Newark Limo pages you can check it out if you want – or just hit the parks and watch that amazing color display.
1. Prospect Park (Brooklyn)
It has a 585-acre area. It is a public park. It was designed by the designer of Central Park. There are things to take your heart away. For instance, Long Meadow is meadow with 90 acres of land. This park has a Picnic House with capacity of 175 guests. But most importantly, this park is a major nature conservancy.
2. Pelham Bay Park- the awesome
This park is on the northeast side of NYC’s Bronx. It occupies 2,764 acres. This park is the largest among all NYC public parks. This means it is at least 3 times as big as the Central Park.
Around 2.4 km² of this park is tidal. So you will find it walkable or underwater from time to time. Wondering what makes it happen? There are fast tide changes and the Orchard Beach shoreline is near.
3. Pelham Bay Park- the beauty and fun
This park deserves some ‘extra’ respect- so here’s some more! Hutchinson River tears through this park. It includes the Hunters Island, Twin Island, along with the Two-Trees Island. These 3 are joined with mainland by land fill.
This park is linked with City Island by The City Island Bridge. There’s a lagoon, a colonial remnant, softball/baseball grounds, children’s playing grounds, areas for picnic, nice tennis courts, trails (to walk, bike, run) and too much to describe!
4. The New York Botanical Garden
The acronym is NYBG. As a botanical garden, it’s a class. It occupies around 250 acres of NYC’s Bronx Park. This garden takes pride with some of the best plant laboratories on earth. For public, this garden arranges major exhibitions along with flower shows all over the year. It invites around 800,000 visitors each year.
5. Van Cortlandt Park
It occupies over a thousand acres of area (over 4.5 km²). This one is also in Bronx. In size this park is 4th largest in NYC. You can visit the Van Cortlandt House Museum here. That is by the way the most ancient building in Bronx.
